Crazy Horse Visit

Every time I get a yen to reconnect with my ancestral roots, I head to Custer, SD to the Crazy Horse Memorial. It’s a short drive from Sturgis, SD but I still remember to set my Adt Security Package before I leave.

The drive there is beautiful with the tall, stately pines that sunlight filters through to dapple the ground. Driving around the curves in the road always opens a new vista to view.

Crazy Horse Memorial is so large, Mt. Rushmore could fit in the space between the horses neck and the outstretched arm. Since I have been going up there for nearly forty years, I have seen a great many changes and am really excited about how the great warrior is emerging from the rock of the Black Hills.

You can see Crazy Horse Mountain before you get there, but you definitely want to go into the museum to really get an understanding of both the artist and the people that are represented. I also took the bus tour to the base of the mountain the last time I was there. Just last year I stayed to watch the laser light show that commences after dark. It was really fabulous and set to music, I plan to stay again this year at least once.
